PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an information recording/reproducing device capable of guaranteeing the continuity of data divided into a plurality of files when continuous information is recorded in a randomly accessed recording medium. SOLUTION: This device includes an encoder for encoding an input video, a temporary storing means for temporarily storing data encoded by the encoder, a recording medium for recording the data stored in the temporary storing means and a control means for creating check thumbs for the encoded data, and adding check thumbs over a plurality of continuous files to the files to record them when recording the data temporarily stored by the temporary storing means as files in the recording medium.
