PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide the image-capturing apparatus equipped with image compensating function, and to provide an operation method thereof. SOLUTION: The apparatus includes an image-capturing unit capturing an image of a predetermined object, a tilt-determining unit determining the tilt of the image-capturing unit relative to the object, and a compensation unit for compensating the captured image in accordance with the determined tilt. During a video telephony using a mobile communication device, distortions of a facial image occurring due to image-capturing angle of a camera is compensated, even if the camera is used in a natural attitude.
