PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a data stream converter and a data conversion circuit, capable of flexibly converting data stream at high speed with a further simple structure. SOLUTION: The data stream converter 10 comprises a control register group 12 for setting retrieval data or substitution data. Retrieval data stored in the control register group 12 is supplied to a comparator 13, in which data of an input stream and the retrieval data supplied from the control register group 12 is compared. A command processing part 15 supplies a substitution timing signal to a shift register 11, and supplies a switching timing signal to a multiplexer 16. The multiplexer 16 performs data substitution or the like in the data stream. These processings are achieved by using the multistage data stream converter 10 through a matching detection signal.
