PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To further reduce kick-off phenomena at the rear end of paper, caused by a carriage driving roller and a carriage driven roller during executing edge-less printing, without lowering throughput. SOLUTION: This recording medium carrying device holds paper P between the carriage driving roller 30 and the carriage driven roller 31 and carries the paper P with the rotation of the carriage driving roller 30. The carriage driven roller 31 is provided movably in a paper carrying direction and its opposite direction in a range where the paper P can be held between the carriage driving roller 30 and itself so that it can be moved in the opposite direction to the paper carrying direction by force received from the rear end of the paper P when the rear end of the paper P is removed from between the carriage driving roller 30 and the carriage driven roller 31.
