PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sheet sensing device capable of eliminating easily the static electricity charged on a paper sheet at low cost without use of a static eliminating sheet or a static eliminating brush and provide an image forming device equipped with the sheet sensing device. SOLUTION: A sheet transporting device 1 is equipped with a transportation part 11 having a transport path 10 for transporting sheets S of paper separated by a separating device 2 one by one from the sheets placed on a tray and a metal shaft 12 to separate the transported sheets S and send out in the transporting direction. The metal shaft 12 is installed at the inlet to the transportation part 11 in such an arrangement as perpendicularly intersecting the sheet transporting direction and is positioned on the side opposite a separator roller 2a of the separating device 2 with the sheet in between. The end of the metal shaft 12 is fixed being pressed by a metal wire for eliminating static electricity, and the electricity on the metal shaft 12 is also eliminated by grounding the end of this metal wire to outside of the image forming device through a lead (not shown).
