PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a printer which can prevent un-transferred parts caused by wrinkling of an ink ribbon from generating regardless of a stiffness strength of papers in relation to a printer which prints to a medium to be recorded by carrying out heating control to a thermal head while holding the ink ribbon and the medium to be recorded by the thermal head and a platen roller. SOLUTION: In a head unit 16, a ribbon guide member 28 is arranged at a rear end edge part of the thermal head 15, and a paper guiding member 60 is disposed connecting with the ribbon guiding member 28 to be movable up and down. The paper guiding member 60 is arranged so that a paper guide 60A is positioned above a conveyance route of the paper 10. The paper guiding member 60 is pressed downward by the downward movement of the head unit 16 at the execution time of the printing action. By moving the paper guiding member 60 downward, the paper guide 60A separates the paper 10 from the ink ribbon 45 and effectively actuates a back tension to the ink ribbon 45.
