PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a dresser with a simple structure, capable of facilitating verifying that a grinding edge at the front end of the dresser hits a surface of a grinding wheel for the start of cutting or that shaping of the surface of the grinding wheel is completed. SOLUTION: A pair of piezoelectric elements 9, 9 are inserted into a shaft hole 7 in the dresser 1 to make their polarities opposite to each other. A conducting plate 11 is intervened between the piezoelectric elements 9, 9 and a screw 13 is screwed into the dresser 1 to press the piezoelectric elements 9, 9 against the conducting plate 11. The conducting plate 11 is connected to a light emitting diode 12a in the forward direction between one end extending from the dresser 1 and the dresser 1 and to a light emitting diode 12b in the reverse direction between the other end and the dresser 1, respectively. Thus, an output voltage of the piezoelectric elements 9, 9 generated during dressing emits the light emitting diodes 12a, 12b. COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT
