PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a slot machine with a plurality of reels for variably displaying symbols with enhanced amusement in the operation of starting variation of symbols in each reel. SOLUTION: The slot machine 1 comprises a variation starting means 62 structured to generate a variation starting signal by taking in the operation of a player to start the variation of symbols, a variation stopping means 61 structured to generate a variation stopping signal by taking in the operation of the player to stop the variation of symbols, and a reel control means 45 for independently controlling the respective reels 2 to start the variation of symbols by taking in the variation starting signal and to stop the variation of symbols by taking in the variation stopping signal. The variation starting means 62 includes an independent starting switch means 62 structured to generate the variation starting signal by taking in the operation of the player to start the variation of symbols in one of a plurality of symbol variation means 2 only.
