PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a simply constituted, compact imaging optical unit wherein the decentering error of an optical member is reduced, in order to solve the following problems: the whole length is increased when switching a reflecting member from an active state to a retreat state; a complicated mechanism is required, then, the number of components is increased; and the manufacturing cost is increased, and to provide an imaging apparatus. SOLUTION: The unit includes: a first holding member for holding the reflecting member (81) for bending luminous flux incident from an object to be photographed along a first optical axis (76) toward a second direction; a following group holding member for holding the following lens group (86) along a second optical axis; a rotating shaft for rotating the first holding member; and a driving part for rotating the rotating shaft. The first holding member is made freely rotatable around the rotating shaft when switching the reflecting member from the active state to the retreat state. COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT
