PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an organic pigment which has an absorption band corresponding to the so-called blue laser, has high solubility in organic solvents such as cellosolve-based solvents, hardly crystallizes even in a solvent-evaporating time in a thin film-forming process such as casting, and is suitable for being used for optically recording media for blue lasers. SOLUTION: This organic pigment uses a 4-benzylidene hydrantoin derivative of the general formula (A) as a new compound.
