PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a capsule endoscope capable of miniaturizing a battery. SOLUTION: The capsule endoscope 10 comprises an imaging part 14 with a lens 12 and a CCD image sensor 13, a plurality of light emitting diodes 15 as illumination light sources, a control circuit 16 for controlling the imaging part 14 and the illumination light sources 15, a transmission/receiving circuit 18 with an antenna 17 for transmitting image signals as electric waves, and the battery 19 as a power supply for feeding electric power to each part inside a capsule container 11. The control circuit 16 starts imaging when receiving an imaging starting signal from an extracorporeal transmitter 22 via the antenna 17. The imaging is not started till the imaging starting signal is received from the extracorporeal transmitter 22 even if the region to be imaged is the latter half of the digestive system, so that the battery power can be saved.
