A porous honeycomb structure for carrying a catalyst, wherein the porous honeycomb structure is mainly composed of silicon carbide, and has a wall thickness of about 0.1 mm to about 0.25 mm and an apparent density of about 0.4 g/cm³ to about 0.7 g/cm³.
