<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To propose a novel method for producing a mixed powder usable as a raw material for a ceramic sintered compact. <P>SOLUTION: This invention relates to a method for producing a mixed powder containing a powder α comprising a composition α and a powder β comprising a composition β. To obtain this mixed powder, a raw material mixture containing the composition α and a composition γ capable of being converted into the composition β by a chemical reaction is obtained. The novel method comprises irradiating the raw material mixture with microwaves to allow the composition γ to chemically react to obtain the composition β. The composition β can be formed by the chemical reaction of the composition γ with an element X which takes place by the irradiation with microwaves.
