PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a tracking control method and an optical disk device, capable of managing the amount of lens shifting with respect to an actuator immediately after the start of recording within a fixed range, and preventing tracking deviation caused by the excessively large amount of lens shifting with respect to the actuator immediately after the start of recording. SOLUTION: The tracking control method includes measurement of the amount of lens shifting with respect to the neutral center of a lens 11 in an actuator 10 before the lens 11 is traced to a recording start address.
