PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To avoid an unrecoverable error caused by heat demagnetization of a perpendicular magnetic recording method. SOLUTION: A sector dedicated to heat demagnetization monitoring is prepared to record patterns easy to be influenced by the heat demagnetization beforehand, and the deterioration is reported to a higher order device before the unrecoverable error occurs by monitoring the signal quality.
