<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electrolyte membrane which has a high proton conductivity and low crossover of fuel and has no camber, with good adhesiveness with an electrode, and provide a membrane electrode assembly and a polyelectrolyte fuel cell capable of achieving a high output and a high energy capacity using the same. <P>SOLUTION: The asymmetrical electrolyte membrane has respective layers of (A), (B), (C) in this order at least at a part of the electrolyte membrane, and the thickness of the (A) layer and that of the (C) layer are different.
