<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To execute a sure and uniform cleaning by preventing peeling up in both ends of a cleaning blade due to a difference in temperature on both ends of the cleaning blade brought into a sliding contact with an image carrier. <P>SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus which cleans toner remaining on an image carrier 1 with the blade 81 is provided with: a frictional force detecting means 8A for detecting frictional force in both ends where surrounding of both ends on an outer periphery of the image carrier 1 and the blade 81 is brought into the sliding contact; and a frictional force varying means 8B for varying the frictional force between the image carrier 1 and the blade 81. When the frictional force between the image carrier 1 and both ends of the blade 81 is detected to be uneven by the frictional force detecting means 8A, one of the frictional forces on both ends of the blade 81 is varied by the frictional force varying means 8B and control is carried out so that the frictional force over the whole length of the blade 81 may be uniform. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT |
