PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To allow easy replacement of an auxiliary separating pad having lower sheet double-feed performance. SOLUTION: This sheet feeder 30 comprises a body, a feed roller for carrying sheets, a separating pad 5a arranged at a position of contacting/leaving the feed roller for separating the carried double-fed sheets held between the rotating feed roller and itself and then leaving the feed roller, the auxiliary separating pad 6 for receiving the lower-side sheet out of the upper-side sheet and the lower-side sheet separated from each other in the state that the separating pad 5a leaves the feed roller to prevent the carriage of the lower-side sheet following the upper-side sheet, and a guide cover 17 provided on the body in the state of being closeably exposed to the outside and having the auxiliary separating pad 6 at a position opposite to the feed roller.
