PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a passenger conveyor having less noises and vibration during the reverse rotation of a footplate while reducing the possibility of deformation or destruction of a rail. SOLUTION: The passenger conveyor comprises the footplate 5 connected to an endless footplate chain 6 for circulating movement from the lower side of one gateway floor 9a to the lower side of the other gateway floor 9b, the rail for guiding a roller 8 connected to the footplate 5, a main sprocket 3 around which the footplate chain 6 is applied, and a drive mechanism for rotating the main sprocket 3. At least part of the rail at the lower side of the gateway floor is movable, and a rubber plate 11 is provided on the lower side of the movable part. COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT
