OPTICAL NETWORK AND OPTICAL CIRCUIT

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical network and an optical communication apparatus for simply and highly reliably performing a full duplex optical communication and a multicasting optical communication using a multicore optical fiber.

SOLUTION: The optical network includes: a first and a second optical transmitting and receiving module 9; a first and a second laminated optical circuit 3 which are connected each to the optical transmitting and receiving module 9; and one multicore optical fiber 1 which connects the first and second laminated optical circuits 3 and which has separated first and second core groups. The first and second laminated optical circuits 3 are provided with a first and a second optical waveguide core 2-a, 2-b respectively. The interval between the end face of the first optical waveguide core and that of the second on the side each connected to the optical transmitting and receiving module 9 is made wider than the interval between the end face of the first optical waveguide core and that of the second on the side connected to the multicore optical fiber 1.
