ILLUMINATION UNIT AND LIQUID CRYSTAL DISPLAY DEVICE USING THE SAME

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To attain high-grade display in a liquid crystal display device by eliminating the deflection due to heat of a reflection sheet.

SOLUTION: An illumination unit illuminates a liquid crystal panel 1 from the rear. The illumination unit is equipped with a light source 2, a rear cover 6 installed to cover the light source 2, and the reflection sheet 5 covering the inner surface of the rear cover 6. The unit has a clearance A between the reflection sheet 5 and the rear cover 6. More specifically, the reflection sheet 5 is placed by having a prescribed spacing with respect to the rear cover 6. The reflection sheet 5 is otherwise divided to a plurality of sheets, and the clearance A is formed between at least one of the reflection sheets 5 and the rear cover 6.
