<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an apparatus for manufacturing a retardation film, the apparatus that can be structured compact as a whole. <P>SOLUTION: The apparatus 20 for manufacturing a retardation film is equipped with: a film supply unit 21a to supply a base film 11 having a photo-aligning resin 12 on the surface; a film winding unit 21b to wind up the base film 11; and a light source 25 with which the photo-aligning resin on the base film 11 is irradiated through a polarizing element 26 to form an alignment layer 12. The light source 25 comprises a plurality of light sources. The light source 25 and a polarizing element 26 form a group 27 of the light source and the polarizing element.
