PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fishing reel that protects a drive supporting part and performs a smooth fishing operation. SOLUTION: In the fishing reel supporting the handle shaft 35 of a handle 31 for winding and driving a spool 17 on the cylindrical drive supporting part 37 attached to one side plate 3 of a reel main body, a cover body 67 for enclosing the circumference of the drive supporting part 37 is fixed to the side plate 3 separately from the outer periphery of the drive supporting part 37.
