PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce an information quantity transmitted on a ring network as much as possible in a signal transmission method and a device when operating squelch processing corresponding to BLSR switching when a single failure is generated on the ring network, and corresponding to BLSR switching when a plurality of obstacles are generated. SOLUTION: At first, NUT information set in an overhead is extracted for squelch information corresponding to a predetermined channel in a channel group on the ring network, and an NUT table corresponding to the predetermined channel is constructed based on the extracted NUT information. Furthermore, the NUT information is inputted from the outside, and set in the overhead for squelch information, and a frame including the overhead for squelch information is transmitted on the ring network by one transmitter, and received from the ring network by the other transmitter and transferred.
