摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent an electrophoretic device which makes electrophoretic particles migrate by varying the voltage of a common electrode while keeping the voltage of a pixel electrode constant, prevents deteriorating in display quality under the influence of a voltage drop of the pixel electrode. SOLUTION: Disclosed is a method of driving the electrophoretic device which is equipped with a first substrate 10 including a plurality of pixel electrodes 13a on one surface, a second substrate 30 which has a transparent electrode layer 32 on one surface and also has a transparent electrode layer 32 arranged opposite the pixel electrodes 13a, and an electrophoretic layer 20 arranged between the first substrate 10 and second substrate 30 and makes electrophoretic particles migrate by varying the voltage of the transparent electrode layer 32 while holding the potential of each pixel electrode 13a constant, the transparent electrode layer 32 being applied with a voltage of V3 as a minimum voltage to V4 as a maximum voltage, where V3 is a potential appearing at the pixel electrode 13a when a minimum voltage V1 is applied to a data line 65 and V4 is a potential appearing at the pixel electrode 13a when a maximum voltage V2 is applied to the data line 65.
