PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent distance measuring mistake, by determining impossibility of distance measurement when at least one of four correlation values is not detected from the correlation values obtained by correlation value operation, when the correlation value is interpolated, based on the four correlation values including an extreme value indicating the highest correlation of the correlation values of respective shift amounts obtained by the correlation value operation, two correlation values whose shift amounts are adjacent to the extreme value, and a correlation value other than the extreme value whose shift amount is adjacent to the correlation value indicating higher correlation of two correlation values, the shift amount, when the true highest correlation value is obtained, is detected, and the distance of a distance-measured object is calculated, based on the shift amount. SOLUTION: When the minimum value in the shift amount is -2 and the lowest minimum value is detected as the shift amount -1, for example, the distance measuring device determines the distance of measurement as being disabled, if the correlation value f(-2) of the shift amount -2 and correlation value f(0) of shift amount 0 establish f(-2)≤f(0). The distance measuring device calculates the distance of the distance-measured object, based on the distance of the distance-measured object calculated, regarding the divided area other than the divided area determined as being disabled.
