PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a shutter controller capable of dealing with fluctuation in power supply voltage and in ambient temperature, with a simple circuit structure. SOLUTION: The shutter controller 100 includes: a battery 102 for supplying the power supply voltage in order to carry out the exposure operation of the camera by controlling an actuator 15 for driving shutter blades to be opened/closed; a drive circuit 104 for switchably supplying an opening-drive current and a closing-drive current to the actuator 15 by directly using the power supply voltage; and a control circuit 105 for controlling the drive circuit 104 while setting timing of switching to the closing-drive in accordance with at least information on the brightness of the object. The driving current flowing in the actuator 15 is detected by the control circuit 105, and the timing of switching to the closing-drive is corrected according to the detected level of the drive current. Correction is performed to make the timing of switching to the closing-drive earlier in order to offset the delay of the shutter operation to be caused when the level of the driving current lowers.
