<p>Making plastic articles by injection stamping comprises using a stamp (70) whose size and travel are sufficient to generate the necessary melt pressure to completely fill the mold cavity (6) after stamp insertion. Independent claims are also included for: (1) plastic article made as above; (2) apparatus for making plastic articles by injection stamping as above, comprising an injection molding machine with two movable platens (2, 3) that can be clamped together to form a mold cavity, and a stamp operated by a drive unit such that stamping pressure in the mold cavity is greater than the injection pressure but less that the closing force of the clamp.</p> |
