The invention relates to a method for separating a liquid mixture comprising a polar liquid and an non-polar liquid - wherein the method comprises passing the liquid mixture through a first porous fabric at least being permeable to the polar liquid, the first fabric being more polar than the non-polar liquid; and thereafter passing the part of the liquid mixture that has passed through the first porous fabric through a second porous fabric permeable to the polar liquid, the second fabric being more polar than the non-polar liquid. The invention further relates to an apparatus for separating a liquid mixture comprising a polar liquid and an non-polar liquid.
