PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a connector with a shell capable of being stably inserted into and extracted from a mating connector with high positional accuracy by enhancing mechanical strength in an inserting and fitting hole of a housing, easily and inexpensively manufacturable with high accuracy and productivity, and high in durability and reliability. SOLUTION: The shell 11 in this case is formed into a structure integrally having: flat facing guide surfaces 113 for guiding the mating connector by forming an inserting opening 111a of a body part 111 covering the side of a fitting surface around an inserting and fitting hole 12a for the mating connector (rough sketch) in a front housing 12 into a linearly asymmetrical shape with respect to a line parallel to the arrangement direction of respective contacts 15-18, by being bent and formed from both ends in the back height direction of the body part 111 and by being fitted and mounted to the inside wall of the inserting and fitting hole 12a; and spring lock pieces 117 folded and formed from both ends in the longitudinal direction parallel to the arrangement direction of the respective contacts 15-18 in the body part 111 and fitted and mounted to the front housing 12.
