PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To accurately detect the direction or position of a sound source using a microphone array and to control directivity of the microphone array in accordance with the detected direction or position of the sound source. SOLUTION: A/D converters 21<SB>1</SB>-21<SB>n</SB>sample analog audio signals obtained by microphones 10<SB>1</SB>-10<SB>n</SB>constituting a microphone array 1 at a frequency higher than a rated value of a sampling frequency that an audio processing device 3 can deal with. A beam scanner 22 detects the direction or the position of a sound source 100 using digital audio signals of the microphones 10<SB>1</SB>-10<SB>n</SB>obtained as the result of sampling and positions of the microphones 10<SB>1</SB>-10<SB>n</SB>, and a beam controller 23 controls the directivity of the microphone array 1 in accordance with the detected direction or position of the sound source 100. Furthermore, a sampling rate controller 24 reduces the sampling rate of digital audio signals to be output to the rated value of the sampling frequency that the audio processing device 3 can deal with.
