PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To stabilize resistance of a screw engagement part by stabilizing operation without making load from a chain guide act on a serrate screw part in a serrate screw auto tensioner. SOLUTION: A male screw 20 of a rod member 15 is engaged with a serration female screw 14 of a nut member 13 in a cylinder chamber 12 of a housing 11. Property of projection is given to the rod member 15. The rod member 15 is divided into a push rod 15a and an adjust screw 15b, and rotary force from the chain guide 6 to the push rod 15a is not transferred to the adjust screw 15b. Also, even if rotation moment from the chain guide 6 to the push rod 15a is received by a slide member 18 of a rear end part of the push rod 15a and a guide member 19 of an opening of the cylinder chamber 12, load is not applied to the adjust screw 15b. Lubricating oil having small viscosity change in relation to temperature is used for oil in the cylinder chamber 12 to stabilize resistance of the screw engagement part. COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT
