PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an EGR cooler without a risk of damage caused by the overheat of an element. SOLUTION: In the EGR cooler 1c, a plurality of elements 8 having rectangular sections are arranged in a shell 2a in parallel with gaps and a cooling water passage 7 establishing communication between an upper part and a lower part in the shell 2a is formed of the gaps.
