PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a stretchable nonwoven fabric whose surfaces are not fuzzy and smooth, and which has soft hand and sufficient air permeability, and to provide a method by which a product having the stretchable nonwoven fabric can easily be produced. SOLUTION: This method for producing the stretchable nonwoven fabric has the following processes. (1) A web comprising non-elastic fibers is disposed on at least one side of a web comprising elastic fibers. (2) An air-through method hot gas treatment is applied to the webs in their non-integrated states to thermally fuse the cross points of the fibers, thereby obtaining a fiber sheet in which the webs are integrated. (3) The fiber sheet is stretched in at least one direction, and then released. (4) The fiber sheet is subjected to a smoothing treatment. COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT
