Methods that include a method comprising: providing a subterranean treatment fluid comprising an aqueous fluid, a viscosifier, a fluid loss control additive, a bridging agent comprising a degradable polymer, and a solvent; placing the subterranean treatment fluid in at least a portion of a subterranean formation; allowing the solvent to at least partially plasticize the degradable polymer; and allowing the subterranean treatment fluid to form a self-degrading filter cake upon a surface in the subterranean formation.
