<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystal display device capable of highly maintaining the contrast of display by improving a spacer having a light shielding property. <P>SOLUTION: The liquid crystal display device comprises: a pair of substrates 7, 8 holding a liquid crystal layer 12; colored films 41 of a plurality of colors disposed on the substrate 7; a light reflection film 23 disposed in a region which planarly falls on each colored film 41; and the spacer 9 which is arranged between the colored film 41 and other colored film adjoining the colored film 41 and retains a layer thickness of the liquid crystal layer 12.
