<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and apparatus for improving a transmission rate of a state report signal in a radio communication system. <P>SOLUTION: The method includes steps of operating in an acknowledgement mode, activating a state report reception process and transmitting a state report unit at a predetermined number of times. The predetermined number of times is larger than one. The state report unit is a piggyback state report unit.
