PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a photoreceptor characteristic measuring instrument which readily and clearly measures the ghost characteristics of a photoreceptor. SOLUTION: The photoreceptor characteristic measuring instrument 100, which measures the characteristic of the photoreceptor 1, is equipped with a first voltage applicator 2 for applying a charge to the surface of the photoreceptor 1, a second voltage applicator 4 for applying a charge of reverse polarity, a destaticizer 5 for removing the charge, a potential measuring instrument 3 for measuring the potential on the photoreceptor 1 surface, and a controller 15 making the photoreceptor 1 undergo a first electrostatic charge history through first voltage applicator 2, the destaticizer 5 and further the first voltage applicator 2 and the second electrostatic charge history through the first voltage applicator 2, the second voltage applicator 4 and the destaticizer 5 and further the first voltage applicator 2 and making a potential measuring instrument measure the potential of the photoreceptor 1 through the first electrostatic charge history and the potential of the photoreceptor 1 through the second electrostatic charge history.
