PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a printer which properly copes with a paper jam caused by a failure. SOLUTION: On the occurrence of the paper jam in the printing processing of the printer 1, a paper-jam detection part 11a detects the occurrence of the paper jam, and a paper-jam history acquiring part 11b acquires the history of the paper jam. A condition determination part 11c determines whether the acquired history of the paper jam falls into a function restricting condition specified in a storage part 12, and a printing function restricting part 11d restricts a printing function when the acquired history of the paper jam falls into the function restricting condition.
