The tensioner (4) has an U-shaped curved sheet plate with two side pieces (5.1, 5.2) and a base bar lying in between the side pieces. Two guiding bolts with a longitudinal axis are fastened at the side pieces, where the bolts guide a sliding block (11) that is moved along the axis. A compression spring (8) is loaded with spring force, and a tension pulley (14) is provided for a chain or belt to be fastened, where the pulley is rotatably fastened at the block, and is tensioned against the chain or the belt by the force.
