[Class 132 (i).] In rowing-apparatus of the kind comprising a coiled spring or springs secured at one end to a fixed part in the apparatus and at the opposite end to a cord connected to a cross-bar or handle. The spring 8 is contained in a tube 1 of rectangular section, the outer cord of which is provided with a bracket 3 supporting a grooved pulley 18 around which the cord 17 is passed. A foot rest 31 is adjustably secured to the tube 1 and a sliding seat 36 is provided having casters 39 running in grooves in the wooden base 6 of the apparatus. A wooden guide block 15 running on a hard wood bearing 33 may be provided between the spring 8 and cord 17. Interchangeable springs of varying strengths may be provided. The handle may comprise rollers 23 mounted on a rod 22 to permit feathering action, and thongs 27 secure the handle to the wrists.</p> |
