To boil wort, for brewing beer, the wort (W) is fed to the boiler (2) in batches for each charge (C) to be boiled in a single phase. The evaporation vapor (D) is passed to a buoyancy column (10) to be rectified at the escape from the boiler. Any condensation (K) is returned to the boiler, and the remaining vapor (E) at the head end (15) of the column is passed through a heat exchanger (17) for condensation and heat recovery. |
