Treatment of glial tumors with ionotropic glutamate receptor antagonists

Disclosed is a use of an ionotropic glutamate receptor antagonist in the preparation of a medicament for treating a glial tumor (which may be located in the brain or spinal cord of a subject) and preventing spread of tumor cells in a subject wherein the medicament is formulated to provide the ionotropic glutamate receptor antagonist at a lower dose than that which causes direct cytotoxicity.
