The method involves determining, by simulation, ultrasonic field generated by ultrasonic wave propagation in a preset zone of a reference part (9). Another ultrasonic field send by a part (10) to be inspected is measured based on an incident ultrasonic wave emitted to a preset zone of the part (10), and a third field from prior measurement on the part (9) is subtracted from the latter field. A quantity related to a topological energy in the part (9) is computed from the former field and the field obtained from subtraction. An image is determined for the zone of the part (10) from the quantity.
