The supporting shell (5) for a boot (4) used in roller skating or winter sports consists of a base (6) fixed to a support (2) and two rear sections (7, 8). The first rear section (7) is made in one piece and is able to flex relative to the base, while the second one (8) has two side pieces (8a) connected to the base on either side and in front of the first one, and a rear band (8b) connected to the upper ends of the side pieces and passing round the back of the first section with a gap of some 5 mm to limit its flexure.
