Ready to use composition for oxidation dyeing of keratinic fibres, especially human hair, comprises (in a suitable medium): (a) at least one oxidation base; (b) at least on direct cationic dye, e.g. of formula (I); and (c) at least one oxidising agent. D = N or CH; R1, R2 = H, 1-4 C alkyl (optionally substituted by CN, OH or NH2) or 4'-aminophenyl; or R1+R2 together with a C atom of the benzene ring may form a heterocycle optionally containing N or O and optionally substituted by one or more 1-4 C alkyl; R3, R3' = H, halo, CN, 1-4C alkoxy or 1-4 acetyloxy; X<-> = chloride, methyl sulphate or acetate anion; A = a group of formula (a) or (b) etc.; R4 = 1-4C alkyl (optionally substituted by OH); provided that when D = CH, then A = (d) or (m) and if R3 is other than alkoxy then R1 and R2 are not both H;
