The invention relate to a method and detection kit for the detection of a cannabinoid in a cannabis sample. The method is based on TLC and the method and kit enable s everyone to avoid laborious, time consuming and expensive analytical researc h and determine the cannabinoid content. Good results are obtained with a developi ng solvent with at least 25 vol.% chloroform and at least 25 vol.% 1,2-dichloro ethane.
