<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus capable of obtaining an excellent image by eliminating the occurrence of the downtime of the apparatus and suppressing a change in image density. <P>SOLUTION: A toner concentration target value in a developing device 6 is corrected based on the output of a toner concentration detecting means (not shown) detecting a toner concentration in the developing device and the detection output of a toner adhering amount detecting means (not illustrated) detecting the toner adhering amount of a reference pattern formed on a photoreceptor drum 3, and the next process control execution time is determined based on the correction result.
