<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable a user to enjoy viewing without a sense of incongruity or unpleasant by automatically controlling subtitle information in response to a set value of volume. <P>SOLUTION: When the user operates a volume up-down key, a volume display bar 41 is displayed on a screen 40 of a television set. Then, the display of the bar 41 changes in accordance with the operation direction of the volume up-down key, and a volume value is displayed as required (figure (A)). In this case, if the television set is set at an automatic subtitle display mode, a control unit of the television set compares a volume value set by the operation of the volume up-down key with a previously stored threshold, and when the present volume value becomes not more than the threshold, the control unit automatically displays a subtitle 42 shown in a figure (B). <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT |
