PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable a user to use data before data erasure again after the data stored inside an optical disk are erased in an optical disk recorder, to reduce the number of components and to lower costs. SOLUTION: Before the data erasure, a data read means reads file management information for managing user data from the file management information area A of the optical disk, and a data recording means writes the information on the outer side of a user data area B and saves it. Thus, the need of saving the data in other storage media is eliminated and the number of components is reduced. After saving the information, the data recording means erases the data in the file management information area A. In accordance with the signals of a data erasure cancellation instruction means, after the data erasure, the data recording means reads the saved file management information. The data recording means restores the information in the file management information area A and makes it possible for the user to use the data before the data erasure again.
